PET CANCER THERAPY
"Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is, without a doubt, the best deal man has ever made." ~Roger Caras
Cancer is a treatable disease, not a death sentence
A diagnosis of cancer in your pet, like in humans, is not a "death sentence." There have been many advances in diagnosis and treatments available so that we can extend the quality and duration of your pet's life. Cancer is, however, the primary natural cause of death in older cats and dogs. It accounts for nearly 50 percent of pet deaths each year. Although cancer is the leading cause of death in older pets, it is also one of the most treatable.
At Petchester, we treat a range of different types of cancer and try to not only cure your pet's disease but also try to maintain a good quality of life for your pet.
At Petchester Veterinary, we believe in individualized therapy, where we work collaboratively with you to choose the most efficacious treatments that will prolong life without jeopardizing quality of life. We design specific protocols which may involve chemotherapeutics and other drugs to help prolong life.
Depending on the type of cancer, there may be other adjunct therapies, like radiotherapy, that may be indicated and we consult with and refer to other specialty hospitals who provide these services. We are fortunate to also have a specialized veterinary cancer center in our area which offers these services:
